Observation details
Dideric (or Diederik) Cuckoos (Chrysococcyx caprius) are breeding migrants throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. They are brood parasites with a wide range of hosts, particularly weavers, sparrows and widowbirds. This Dideric Cuckoo chick was raised by a pair of Southern Grey-headed Sparrows (Passer diffusus), was videoed begging, and then being fed by one of the adult sparrows. Video by Robert Humphries, photographs by Sally Robinson.
