Observation details
Verreaux's Eagle-Owls (Bubo lacteus) are widespread but uncommon in the northern regions of Southern Africa. They are Southern Africa’s largest owl and have conspicuous pink eyelids. This adult was dozing in a Marula tree (Sclerocarya birrea) on the S66 road near Transport Dam, when it awoke and began preening.
