Observation details
My first sighting of the long-tailed shrike for this location. I noticed a pair of Indian Robins on a neighbour's rooftop behaving differently, alert and giving alarm calls. I looked around and saw something jump in the dry grass on the ground (common plot). I focused on the movement, saw the head and later the bird flew up and sat on an Indian mast tree. Then flew and sat on a roof, then on Champa tree and finally on a low bare offshoot of a bush. A red-vented bulbul tried to chase it and then sat on the electricity cable. 4 purple sunbirds and 2 purple-rumped sunbirds sat on the same wire, all alert to the presence of the shrike. 2 indian robin females flew down to a wall next the bush and one common tailorbird sat on the same wall a little far. One male indian robin sat a little further away on a pipe. All the while the shrike was busy flying down to catch something and returning to the same spot.
