Observation details
I saw this phalarope alone and it flew in closer to the shore so I followed it. It had a smooth gray back somewhat longer but thicker bill, dark eye patch, fed in more of a jerky style, and had a almost all white underwing. It appeared chunkier in the body and bigger headed. Most photos taken were distant and blown out by sun but aforementioned characteristics can be seen. Also, several pictures seem to show the orange base of the bill that REPH have. It spent a lot of the time in the open water.
