Observation details
Another awesome find by Will Brooks. Continues - seen about 10:50a here: 46.9461145, -124.1090951. Medium-large shorebird with long yellow legs, long neck, mostly yellow bill, large eyes. 2-note slurred call when flushed. After 6 miles of beating bush unsuccessfully (including walk to far point) I decided to walk the driftwood-littered edge of the beach on the way back to car. Good idea! Soon after I got to the beach at the GPS coordinates, bird flushed to nearby driftwood log 30 feet away, only alighted for a second allowing diagnostic look, then flew to further driftwood about 50 feet away. As I approached to see if it was in view where it landed, I noticed it 30 feet up beach running away from me through foot tall grass on the edge of sandy beach, weaving in and out of grass. I saw it was headed toward some big logs and trained my camera on those- luckily it did fly onto logs and I snapped some photos. Soon after it flew inland from driftwood, but appeared to land not far over ridge at beach edge. Did not extensively search for it again.
