Observation details
On YL. Distant. No scope. All 6 are shown in ML268488761. Note the two in alert posture while on water (ML268488801). One of the few times I’ve seen/photographed blue iridescence instead of green iridescence in exposed speculum of sitting birds. Photos reveal no blue patch on the upperwing coverts of any bird in flight (ala blue-winged/cinnamon teal). Instead, all upperwing coverts look brown plus bills and other aspects of wing pattern and belly whiteness seem to fit green-wings. Underwing coverts on the two "blue-iridescence birds" in flight show extensive white (males?), but note differences in belly whiteness; ML268488901 and ML268488941 are of one of the two "blue-iridescence birds" when it was just taking flight. Similarly, the two lead birds in ML268489041 and ML268489101 are these same two "blue-iridescence birds".
