Observation details
Was out in the park and when I got back I had two calls about a 1st winter Laughing Gull on the point (Fred and Maureen). So I went back down at 3pm and walked out and Andrea Kingsley and a mother and 2 older kids where out there. Andrea said It's right there and pointed to the strand a little way away. She had not seen it a first and just spotted it as she prepared to wade to Island. It was all alone and feeding constantly, walking the strand and picking up zebra mussels? It had a growth on the right foot that gave it a slight limp. Andrea also thought it was holding its wing funny but it was quite active. It allowed a close approach and I took many pictures and video. For my 297th Ontario species; Photo: yes
