Observation details
Small sparrow, intermediate in size between Lincoln’s and Song. Similar in overall appearance to those two species, but with entirely unstreaked underparts and a faint smudged spot in the center of the breast. It had a dark brown line thru the eye, brownish auriculars, and a clean gray nape. When seen in flight from behind, wings and tail extensively rufous. Seen in direct comparison with Lincoln’s and Song Sparrows. Recorded call notes but was unable to get a good photo because it headed in the direction of an in-progress funeral.
