Observation details
Banded Stilts (Cladorhynchus leucocephalus) are widespread in Australia and migrate to breed in large numbers in salt lakes when they fill after rains. This adult bird was feeding on brine shrimps in the hypersaline waters of Lake Macleod, north of Carnarvon in Western Australia. It appears to be in transitional plumage.
