Media notes
Worse than terrible. Shows white wing patch on one individual. Just thought I would share what I got.
Observation details
*Rare, especially since its not an invasion/freeze-out year. FOY. Found yesterday by Steve Minard. Viewed from dirt one-way on east end of the lake. Photos, but likely not diagnostic. Structure more elongated than local BUFF, LESC, and RUDU and immediately brought scoter to mind. Visible white-wing patch, sturdy bill parallel to forehead slope, spots behind and in front of eye. Lighter belly makes me want to say immature females, but I'll stick with females to be safe. Only diagnostic through scope, and some issues with heat distortion over water in addition to waves.
