Observation details
First winter bird. Almost entirely white plumage including white wings with long primary projection. Closer inspection shows plenty of fine brown barring. Similar in size to the smaller Herring Gulls, but with shorter (pink) legs, smaller, more rounded head and finer bill. Dark smudging around dark eye. Tip of bill is black, base a sort of greyish pink. Present 3:30 to 5:30 at least. Also seen by Rich Bonser.
