Upward-sweeping wails. Edits: trimmed and normalized to -3 dB. The persistent ticking sound originated from inside a wooden utility pole. Perhaps some sort of insect? A barking dog is also audible.
Observation details
Initially one heard "barking" spontaneously. Then heard whining and tooting in response to playback. Tooting identifies it as a male. I later heard a second one barking while hearing the other one tooting from a different direction (this is audible on the third recording below). Not seen.
