Observation details
Large shorebird with a heavy body, long neck, proportionally smallish head, and thick, long, slightly upturned bill. Grayish overall in color without any obvious patterning with warmer brown tones on the breast. Bill mostly dark with pinkish color near the base, particularly on the lower mandible. Darker cap on the head with white supercilium and dark eyeline. When seen in flight, black tail and white rump were obvious. Quite vocal while it preened and fed with a flock of lesser yellowlegs and dowitchers. Feeding motion quite similar to dowitchers. Close views. Photos to be attached...
