Observation details
Pair, one seen and photographed, the other was basically a flyby. Heard one bird call once, with a more staccato like call, more like a Downy than a Nuttall's. Sounded most like a LBWO, but given that it only called once, I am not 100% that I could exclude a "polluted" hybrid call. Been a while since I've been to Morongo to remember exactly what that hybrids sounded like. More white than black in face favoring LBWO. Perhaps the black at the upper back is on the thick side for LBWO to suggest hybrid? This is a known location for LBWO, but not 100% clear if the one bird I saw well enough was pure LBWO or a hybrid.
