NOTES: AT THE INITIAL PORTION OF THIS CUT THERE WAS A MUSKRAT SWIMMING VERY CLOSE TO THE YELLOWLEGS. AT THIS TIME THE HEAD-BOBBING SEEMED MOST INTENSE AND DIRECTED AT THE MUSKRAT. AS THE MUSKRAT LEFT, THE INTENSITY OFTHE CALLING SEEMED TO DIMINISH AND THE YELLOWLEGS GRADUALLY RESUMED ITS FEEDING WHILE CONTINUING TO CALL. AS I CREPT CLOSER THE BIRD'S ATTENTION MAY HAVE BEEN DIRECTED TO ME OR TO A SECOND AND THIRD YELLOWLEGS WHICH WERE FLYING ACROSS THE POND ABOUT 60M AWAY. THESE EVENTS ARE ANNOUNCED ON THE TAPE. MY PRESENCE AND MOTION NEVER DID FLUSH THIS BIRD. POTHOLE POND WITH GRASSY SHORE. Sex: 1 UNKNOWN LNS Note: Unbroken cut with handling noise gain change. JN 12Aug2005. Habitat: Pond.
