Observation details
First observation at 0909. 1 counted on property. Interesting observation. A couple of BBMA were squawking and making a ruckus along the creek in reach 2. When I saw the birds they were in pursuit of a small raptor that was heading directly towards me. The BBMA peeled off and the MERL flew less than two meters over my head wheeled around and came straight back and perched in a burned alder approximately 6-7 meters away. It sat for approximately 20 seconds looking me over and then headed off upstream where the BBMA resumed their persecution. I saw it twice more - once while the BBMA were harrassing it, and again moments later sitting quietly in a nearby alder. Detections (number 15-minute intervals in which the species was detected): 1 on property.
