Observation details
Swimming & very active surface feeder. Small compared to nearby Wood Ducks. A dark patch extends back from the eye. A dark stripe runs down the back of the neck. It had a dark crown & back suggesting a juvenile. Its bill is thinner & longer than that of a Red Phalarope. It was starteled after about 15 minutes & flew off heading up stream. Seven photos at 1365 mm are included; all were cropped.
