Observation details
Awesome views of this bird from my kayak, seen foraging alongside a Black-bellied for comparison at (45.7436259, -122.7955902), the bird appeared smaller, slighter, thinner billed, and had a golden wash, especially on its head and back. I initially thought this might be an AMGP based on the paler face and belly, and possibility of 4 primaries extending past tertials, but after reviewing the photos and multiple field guides, I believe this is a Pacific: most photos show 3 primaries extending beyond tertials, the tertials themselves appear longer than the primary extension (instead of being about the same length as in AMGP), the primary projection isn't as pronounced as in photos of AMGP, it has a more subtle supercilium and an overall yellowish wash. Columbia County bird #223!
