Observation details
Slightly larger than an Am. Kestral, but smaller than Cooper's Hawk with tail not quite as long as Cooper's hawk. It came gliding over our shoulders and across the pond quite rapidly. I managed to get one hurried photo of the bird going away. I did not see any sign of the reddish color of the breast feathers of a Sharpie or a Coop and it looked pretty much just dark like a Merlin, so that's where I'm leaning on the ID at this moment, but not quite sure enough for a positive ID.
