Observation details
Sitting on red channel marker seen well with scope, larger than nearby Black Terns, dark orange bill and legs, too distant to see if it had a dark tip; medium gray back, black cap; short legs dark cap, but distance and poor photos make positive ID difficult. I originally thought Common Tern but that would be even more unusual in the Spring, rather than a late summer sighting.
