Observation details
Brown-crowned Tchagras (Tchagra australis) are a relatively common bushshrike in Kruger National Park but they tend to be cryptic, diving into shrubs when disturbed. I was fortunate to be able to video this Tchagra as it subdued then ate a green caterpillar on the leaf litter in the garden at the Mopani Rest Camp Restaurant. It then jumped into a dead shrub, searching for more prey.
