Observation details
A neighbor reported seeing an egret yesterday in Goldstream Marsh off Toddy Pond Road (Route 176) in Surry. Driving by today I spotted it from the road and thought it didn't look right for great egret. With binocs and then a scope I could see the thin neck and bi-colored bill that made it apparent it was an immature little blue heron. Leg color was a bit hard to make out but the legs appeared grayish, definitely not yellow or black. Bird was otherwise all white, standing on the west side of the marsh initially and then moving to a rock at the north end. I have some not great photos that I haven't downloaded yet.
