Observation details
Previously described continuing bird along the Noble Canyon trail off Pine Creek road. Bird began calling/singing at approximately 2007hrs from low perches (unseen) in thick oak and other montane and riparian vegetation roughly .3 mile from trail/road junction (southerly down stream). Vocalizing more often than not and continuously for several minutes at a time the bird was often perched extremely close to me (I.e. less than 20m). At one point the bird swooped and circled directly over my head, silhouetted against the sky and slightly illuminated by the screen light of my phone held up whilst I recorded audio. That was the only brief look at the bird I had. Incessant burry “purple whip” sounding call/song well heard and recorded at close range.
