Observation details
Egyptian Geese (Alopochen aegyptiaca) are amongst the most common and widespread African waterbirds. This pair of geese and their four goslings were loafing and preening on the bank of the pond upstream of the Tsendze Causeway when something, probably a nearby Hippo, alarmed them. The adults immediately made alarm calls and spread their wings while the goslings cheeped before settling again. Two Water Thick-knees (Burhinus vermiculatus) are in the background.
