Observation details
Continuing. Crane—long legs, long neck. Adult by virtue of black stripe on neck. Slightly smaller than nearby SACR (That is what I observed. COCR is supposed to be larger than SACR)(Svennson 1999). SACR has rufous wash on back. COCR distinguishes by black foreneck. Black crown. Black FEATHERING at base of bill. Cheek contrasting whitish. Paler stripe running down side neck. Dark remiges in flight. Written later: Demoiselle Crane also has black stripe on foreneck but has drooping tertials, not organized in bustle like Common Crane. Found by Kevin McKereghan on or about 26 July. Still present by 14 August.
