Observation details
Multiple planing song flights over beaver pond by one male, second male also singing very close by. At 6:25, both males were seen quietly perched near a female in some small spruces, the female with unidentified material in her bill that she seemed to be gathering from the branch (perhaps small bark strips, although it looked more like dirt/mud). One of the males then flew over to the other side of the pond; she followed. Given the relative lack of urgency on the part of both members of the pair, it seems more likely this was nesting material than food; her mate may have been escorting her to exclude the other male. Second female-plumaged bird heard delivering short song, then seen near the other male; it had more brown on the face and a less distinct facial pattern—likely an immature male?
