Observation details
Continuing rarity. Observed in the northeast bay of Togus Pond. Observed from the water at a distance of approximately 100’ before the bird dove and resurfaced within 10’ of the ideal boat affording phenomenal looks. Slender grebe with long neck, black crown, red eye, and long dagger-like yellow-orange bill. Eye within white facial plumage below black crown. Seen again before coming off the water foraging in the same region of the lake. Photographed.
