Observation details
A vireo started scolding above us at 34.47132 -120.06902. My first thought was that this was a Hutton's Vireo. But the calls seemed too forceful, too loud. I made the recording. Upon playing back the call, the bird was very hesitant to be seen by us. It was seen only briefly by Lori and me. What Mark saw was a larger bird with a longer tail, white undertail, and white belly, and no more. The call matched and the brief look suggested ReVi, but I do not know the calls of all possible vireos. This one matches well the scold of ReVi. A ReVi was see on 14 June 2020 1.86 miles N of Hwy 101 as the crow flies. Our bird today was 0.37 miles N of Hwy 101.
