Hamerkops (Scopus umbretta) are strange waterbirds that are regularly seen in shallow freshwater habitats in sub-Saharan Africa. This adult Hamerkop was perched on a rock, yawning and preening on the causeway below the Biyamiti Weir in Kruger National Park.
