Observation details
*Rare. Flew in at 6:53, first detected in distance by call then spotted flying in off lake (somewhat from south?). Landed at the end of the spit and was quickly joined by the Greater Yellowlegs that had been on the beach. Walked around uncomfortably for a few minites, then took off again at 9:57 with the yellowlegs. Headed out over lake and turned north. The yellowlegs quickly turned back and returned, but the Whimbrel seemed to gain some height at continue north at ridge height. Photos.
