Observation details
I keep hearing that these are increasingly common, but this was the first time I heard or saw them in LA county. Thin, buzzy/metallic, descending, high pitched calls. Heard only for several minutes. I stuck around hoping to locate and record them, and eventually a flock of at least 12 birds crossed the street from the youth center to the hillside above me (straight into the sun). Counting them was not unlike a typical experience counting bushtit flocks. I thought I had 7 birds, then 3 more birds crossed the street towards me, and then 2 more, etc. Small warbler sized birds, appearing thin billed and rather short tailed, and in the atrocious light appeared to have white bellies and darker heads and tails. Some poor audio recordings when I could find a couple of seconds with no traffic noise.
