Observation details
2 adults and 2 juveniles. Thalasseus terns, smaller than Royals. Long wings (compared to the Sternas I was seeing), very pale upperparts. Adults molting with white forecrown, long black bill with yellow tip. Juveniles with dark tips to upper wing coverts, shorter, more blunt bills, one mottled yellow and black. Feeding close inshore, passing by our spot at the beach three times during my 3 hours of observation. Inspection of photos revealed one juvenile and one adult with aluminum bands, though not completely readable.
