Observation details
*Scarce but regular in this context. A bit on the early side but with the recent moderate influx of Bonaparte’s Gulls it was only a matter of time before the season’s first Little Gull arrived. Glorious adult in breeding plumage. Only a tiny speck of white feathering at bill base and slightly worn primary tips. Seen in direct comparison to adult breeding Bonaparte’s Gull. Tiny gull with complete, extensive black hood and petite dark bill. Pale gray mantle and completely dark underwings. Photos.
