Adult male Sedge Wren singing from a sedge stalk
Observation details
First time observing this species!!! Was an unexpected bird for me, but apparently not uncommon at this time. I was looking for them at the same location earlier in the season to no avail. Heard a Dickcissel-like song coming from the tall sedge/grass mix on the S side of the meadow. Began recording audio as I heard the song more clearly and knew it wasn't Dickcissel. Song had a wren-like trill segment at the end & I began to suspect Sedge Wren. Then the bird came into view, working its way up a sedge stalk as it continued to sing. Small wren with very short (barely discernible) tail, whitish eyebrow, pale chest with buffy flanks. Heard another individual sing from further afield as I was leaving.
