NOTES: (Time: 3:45-5:20. Breeding Status: Unknown. Frequency of Sound: Agitated. Gen. Climate: Arid. Cover Density: Sparse.) This was a single bird I confirmed in the daytime. If he found a mate, it was at another site because he was gone in 10 +/- days. [long cut - 15:00+] BNA: could be Regularly Repeated Vocalization. Other vocalizations could also be Locomotory Hesitance Complex Vocalization "kee-kee", but not sure. After several "whit" calls and before RRV, Chatter Vocalization. Chatter also occurs later. mf [This is primarily the "dawn song" or "Regularly Repeated Vocalization" following BNA and W. J. Smith (1966. Communications and relationships in the genus Tyrannus.Publ. Nuttall Ornithol. Cl. 6), but there are short stretches with other types of vocalizations, most apparently following playback. At 4:08-4:22 is a series with "Incipient Locomotory Hesitance Vocalizations" (ILHVs), "Repeated Vocalizations" (RVs), and what may be a "Compound Vocalization" (CdV) given in response to tape playback. A similar series, but with mostly RVs is at 6:01-6:27 (after additional playback). Additional series of similar vocalizations are at 9:33-9:38, 11:09-11:14, 12:49-12:56, 13:19-13:28, and 13:33-13:53. The last part began with RVs, followed by two sets of what appear to be CdVs (16:07-16:16) and then more RVs with one "Incipient Locomotory Hesitance Vocalization" (16:40). Quality changed from 2-3 to 1-2 (but with a soft hiss/crackle and some vocalizations overloaded) - CAM - 7 January 2005]. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise, Emit Alarm. Habitat: Deciduous Forest, Urban, Yard.
