NOTES: (Bkground Sounds: Picoides stricklandi drumming - 121 on counter. Gen. Climate: Arid. Cover Density: Medium.) Two territorial males in a rivalry, each on his special perch: 065-078. Reaction to playback: 79-85 Comment: 85-89 Flock and singles: 90-133 Two males are involved in territorial countersinging, and when I used their recording of the countersinging as a playback, the first response was one male with a single alarm singly and together. The playback apparently stimulated quite a chorus which kept up for several minutes. Habitat: Evergreen Forest, Deciduous Forest, Riparian.
