Observation details
In the same group of locust trees along the creek that I'd been recording the calls of Cooper's Hawks shortly after sunrise, a Great Horned Owl swooped out of one tree and landed in another nearby. I watched as it swivled its head 180 degrees and looked at me. After several minutes it flew across the creek and landed in yet another tree where it stayed for half an hour before departing. As near as I could observe the owl made no vocalizations.
