Observation details
As I was walking beneath some locust trees along the creek shortly after sunrise, two Cooper's Hawks swooped down out of a tree and up to the next tree(s) close by but out of my sight. I didn't see them again, but I've seen them before. Following that, two more Cooper's Hawk's swooped down out of a tree and up to the tree above me. These were juvenile birds. as pictured in the photo. They stayed in the tree, apparently undisturbed by the person below watching them through binoculars. One of the adult birds down the way called over and over in a repeated call. One of the young birds answered with single high-pitched responses. After the hawks left, a great horned owl flew down out of a tree in the same area and landed in a nearby tree. Might the adult hawk have perceived either me or the owl as a threat to its young and thus a long series of calls for them to beware?
