Observation details
Advanced third year bird. The bird flew after a couple minutes. Saw the yellow legs then and also a black band across the tail tip. The bill had the usual adult red spot, but also black above the red on the upper bill. The pic isn't showing that. I did some research tonight. According to Howell and Dunn - "a third cycle bird - tail varies from all white to having a broken blackish subterminal band." I am presuming it will be in full adult breeding plumage by the summer.
