Observation details
Photos. Both birds were in willows and bare branches on the east side of the Pool 15 road- at opening where Perche Creek is visible, just before the last turn of the road that goes west towards the Pool 14 parking lot. Birds were interacting with each other and with other species of flycatchers using the same perches: 2 GCFL, 2 EAPH, and 1 EAKI. To see these 4 species of flycatchers interact with each other was quite the show!- photographs of all 4 species. One WIFL chased another so I am not sure if this represents a breeding pair or interaction between 2 males. Both "fitz-beew" and "whit" call notes heard. Slightly smaller than nearby Immature E. Phoebe with yellowish lower mandible (vs. dark in immature E. Phoebe), bolder wing bars (feather edging on Immature E. Phoebe give appearance of wing bars), faint eye ring around eye, and lack of tail wagging of Immature E. Phoebe.
