Observation details
JJ, Paul, Michelle detected singing individual at the top of a steep south-eastern facing slope. All heard this individual singing an abbreviated song segment secretively in low willows. JJ and Paul split off to explore lower slope unsuccessfully. Meanwhile, Claire Jeff and Michelle stayed up top. After a bit of walking around Claire spotted the S.b.taverneri a little further upslope than previous detection in the top of a willow. All three of us got great looks and heard the full song a few times. After Paul and JJ rejoined, we all found the bird again (thanks to it's singing), and we all got nice looks and were serenaded by song. Much joy and wonderment was shared. This individual was observed in close proximity (under 1ft) of both White-crowned Sparrows and American-tree Sparrows with neither species appeared to be bothered by the other.
