Observation details
Continuing singing male present now for over a month (no sign of the female, maybe attending a nest?). I heard it singing immediately upon arrival from the parking lot directly across from the red church, and got a brief look as it flew off shortly after. We continued to hear it sing periodically for the next hour and a half, usually from the trees behind the church, but could not get a visual. Eventually it returned and flew in to a small willow by the parking lot directly above our heads, where it was less than 15 feet away! It sang and foraged at this incredibly close distance for over 10 minutes, giving great views, photos, and recordings. Notably not singing the rising-trill type song as I have seen recordings posted of this bird, but instead other song-type, the rising, speeding-up buzz song. A truly beautiful bird, and a very long-awaited lifer!
