Observation details
In two known areas. At one site, pair feeding nestlings or branchers still in nest bush (not visible), while two banded juveniles from their first brood foraged independently about a half mile away. At other site, pair feeding nestlings that should fledge next week sometime Loggerhead shrikes are uniquely banded with a combination of 4 bands. Birders can help IDNR track these endangered birds - please report sightings (date, exact location, age of bird and color band combination if possible) to akearns@dnr.in.gov You can support future loggerhead shrike research by donating to the Nongame Wildlife Fund.
