Observation details
Joined John Trochet to try to photograph the Chipping Sparrows he found nesting here over the past month plus. There are at least two juveniles and one adult still with them. The young are now fully fledged and flying strongly. This is a first nesting record for Sacramento County and perhaps the first for the flats of the Valley floor (at least since 1886 when an egg set was collected from an unspecified location in Sacramento County). See: Trochet, J. 2020. A recent breeding record for the Chipping Sparrow from the Central Valley floor. Central Valley Birds 23: 53-59.
