Observation details
I'm not sure how this species got split up (Taiga vs. Tundra) but it is a Bean Goose. One of the students noticed the orange spot on the bill and that "it didn't look like a spot-billed duck". Good observation. I ran to TNC office to get Dave to snap a picture for the record. Apparently this is the first recorded Bean Goose for this site although it has not been birded much. There are more pictures floating around the inboxes of TNC China.
