Observation details
Young fledgling atop the feeders trying to figure out what to do. At first, did not see adult but then did. There appear to be two fledglings this morning which is also what I am hearing. Both have entirely pinkish white bills with just the very tip dark. Plumage is tight and fresh. Brest light buff at top then white down breast with dark striping which gets thinner and less obvious past the Brest to non-existent at the belly. Brownish over all with white striping on the head, white median stripe. Their behavior gives them away as well. They are klutzy and clueless. I see them begging before the male. I know this number is higher because I have only seen one female take and carry worms away. Since males get their adult plumage in their second fall, I am often cautious about calling female types female as the could be second summer birds.
