Observation details

As of 2019, with publication of Peterson Field Guide to Bird Sounds of Western North America, Pieplow is on record that RB and OB are distinguishable, on basis of form of first note. See pages 374 and 375. For RB it starts with a clear upslur, as seen here. That identification agrees with the expected subspecies group on the basis of range.
