Observation details
Now in the pool that is in front of the Bald Eagle Nest. When first spotted was before one approaches the nest. After turned around in front of Pool 14, saw him fly to the edge of this pool. He then swam and climbed onto a log by the rocks. Preened himself extensively and then went to sleep. In reviewing the pictures, I think I found the problem. The skin around his tail seems to be red and ulcerated. Thus, he may be able to fly short distances, but it would be challenging to fly long distance. Wondering if he could be treated by the vet school. Feel quite bad seeing him all by his lonesome, especially if indeed he has a degloving tail injury.
