Observation details
At the northwest corner of the main body of the lake, I took the path down close to the water’s edge. There among the dense reeds/grasses I heard a repeating song/call: a low and fast coo-coo-coo. The bird sang for the whole time I was there which was about 10 minutes or more. After reviewing iBird audio files I determined this to be a Least Bittern. I encourage anyone who know this species’ vocalizations well to review my audio clip. It’s pretty faint in the recording, but you can heard four rounds of the coo-coo song.
