Observation details
Conservative estimate of 30 nesting pairs, numbers updated when I got home. Many egrets flying mostly through or under the canopy of trees often hidden unlike night herons which soar in open spaces. Is this the reason they get nesting materials from different spots? SNEG usually gets them from the middle of pine trees, but BCNH gathers from open trees just outside of nesting area. Very loud, constant tic tic tic tic tic tic from many egrets at a time. also some screeching and guttural calls.
